Cupid’s Temple

A light glows in the sanctuary
Dim at times but mostly bright
With a buoyancy that would carry
Us away like floating lanterns
To become starry constellations
And sculptors would fashion us
Wings, not knowing how else
To tell the story.

Love is an open temple
Exposed on all sides
So that all may enter
And pass the flame
Candle to candle
Unlit, burned out,
Rekindled, relit,
All may partake and fly.
